Asia’s Disney Food Faves

HELLO EVERYONE! I’M BACK!

In honor of Disneyland’s birthday, I decided to write about my favorite foods at the California resort parks! I couldn’t cover all of my favorites, so here’s a handful of them.

We spent my birthday at Disneyland. If you didn’t know already, I am one of the biggest Disneyland/Walt Disney history fan of all time. Probably not as much as the man who’s been going into the park for more than 2000 consecutive days. . . but close.

During our trip, I took pictures of my park favorites from Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, and outside the park. We had the wonderful opportunity to reserve the World of Color package three course meal at Carthay Circle. So if you’re into both the classic faves and interested in trying the more elegant eating experience at Disney, you’ve come to the right place! I apologize ahead of time for the poor quality photos. I was obviously too excited to binge eat all of the food at the park.

Disclaimer: These are MY OWN personal favorites at the park, so obviously, I couldn’t cover everything. I think its also a good time to note that I am not a big eater, so when I do eat, I try to eat as healthy as I can.

Disneyland

1. Mint Julep Bar, Beignets & Mint Juleps Tucked behind New Orleans Square, right in front of the New Orleans train station, you will find the infamous Mint Julep Bar. You’ve probably heard it over 100 times from your friends, but this is one of those hyped up places in the park that is literally worth the visit every single time. Not only are they one of the cheaper snacks to grab in the park, they’re a staple Mickey Shaped Food. Usually, they will have special flavors for a limited time, so definitely check those out when you have a chance.
   Side Note: If you’re feeling a bit dehydrated, there is a filtered water station here!

2. Bengal BarbecueYou’ve had a busy day in the park, it’s around lunch time and you’re craving something to eat that’s not too heavy. The perfect place to fuel up on a cheap, delicious snack is in Adventureland at Bengal Barbecue. They have a wide variety of delicious skewers, with options for both meat-lovers and vegetarians. You can find this spot in front of the Jungle Cruise.

3. Tiki Juice Bar, Dole WhipAfter your hearty snack at Bengal Barbecue, you can head over to the Tiki Juice bar for another Disneyland staple, the Dole Whip. You can order it however you like, you can’t really go wrong here, but I prefer getting the float. You can ask the cast members for “secret seasoning” to add extra spice in your life if you’re feeling adventurous. BTW this “secret seasoning,” is just Tajin . .***IMPORTANT*** ALWAYS LINE UP ON THE TIKI ROOM SIDE, NEVER THE OUTSIDE. THE LINE IS ALWAYS SHORTER. (Basic tip for all of you non-disney fanatics out there)

5. Jolly Holiday Bakery Café

   Okay, so I’m going to let you know a little tip. If you’re like me and you want to eat somewhat healthy while you’re in the park, head over to the Jolly Holiday Cafe and order a Kid’s Turkey sandwich meal. Yes, everything else on the menu is all delicious so I guess if you want that too, go ahead and order it. In the kid’s meal, you get:

Disney California Adventure

1. Cozy Cone Motel
   
   If you are in the mood for something absolutely instaworthy, unique and delicious, make a trip over to the Cozy Cone Motel for some amazing popcorn and chili! This is an absolute MUST during your stay at the Disneyland resort.Asia’s Picks:

2. Cove Bar
   
   Seriously, are you actually doing Disneyland and DCA if you don’t grab some food and drink at the Cove Bar? That cool rainbow layered drink isn’t on the menu, so make sure you ask your waiter about it! A cast member in the park actually recommended NOT to mix the drink, because apparently you get more drunk as you drink the layers.

3. Carthay Circle

   If you’re in the mood to splurge, and really immerse yourself in a unique dining experience, I recommend booking a reservation for the World of Color Package at Carthay Circle. There are multiple World of Color Packages at DCA,  the majority of which are significantly cheaper. However, Carthay Circle is special because it’s modeled after the theatre in which Walt Disney won his Academy Award for Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. I recommend reserving at least a month in advance. See below some of the food from our meal!**Fun Tip** They actually have the original Academy Award + the seven little ones at the Walt Disney Museum in San Francisco, CA.

Disneyland Hotel

1. Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar Now, I did not know about Trader Sam’s until a helpful Disney Vacation Club Cast Member told us about it. This Jungle Cruise themed bar is jam packed with interactive surprises. BONUS! If you love Pixar’s UP, look out for a familiar easter egg 😉 There are only three drinks in the bar that activate some special effects in the bar, and to be honest they aren’t the best cocktails in the world, but they are definitely worth a try. One more thing: When you walk into the bar, take some time and walk around. If you love Disney history as much as I do, you’ll definitely love this gem.Asia’s Picks:
